The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) has appointed Galeboe Mogotsi as its new chief information and security officer (CISO). He has been promoted from his former role as GM for ICT: strategy and governance at Wits.
Galeboe is a seasoned cybersecurity expert with more than 18 years of experience in digital technology and cybersecurity, and a hands-on leader who specialises in steering organisations through dynamic technological landscapes.
Before joining Wits, Galeboe was ICT manager at the Gauteng Partnership Fund. He later joined Armscor as senior manager: cybersecurity innovation division. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Galeboe is highly regarded as both a speaker and adviser, sought after for his expertise in digital transformation, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity.
Galeboe completed his BTech degree in information technology management at the Tshwane University of Technology, complemented by a diploma in information and technology management from Mancosa, and is currently pursuing an MBA with the same institution. He is also a certified chartered CIO.
