SPEAKER(S) BIO | Ian’s background in Higher Education started in 2005 when he consulted for several small private Higher Education institutes around improving efficiencies and taking the institutions from largely manual paper-based to system-driven automated environments and implementing solutions to support the achievement of these outcomes. Based on the success of these engagements, in 2007 Ian was engaged to perform the IT due diligence for the acquisition of Educor (one of the largest providers of Private Education in Southern Africa) from Naspers by a private investor. Following the successful acquisition of Educor by the investor, Ian was invited to serve in the role of Chief IT Officer, managing the entire technology environment for Educor, which is the holding company for several well-known brands in Southern Africa (Intec, Damelin, City Varsity, Lyceum College, Icesa, Central Technical College, etc). Ian was also the Head of Strategic Projects, running over 80 successful projects, some of which were industry firsts in South Africa. Ian’s responsibilities also included running the IT due diligence for potential acquisitions by Educor – London College of International Business was one such successful acquisition. This process provided exposure to the UK, US and European Higher Education space – Ian was a member of the Educor Group Executive Committee, the Academic Advisory Board, and the Quality and Strategic Planning Committees. In 2018, Ian joined SIS Global as Executive Head: Education, running the Global Education Practice for SIS Global with a key focus on building and delivering Student Information and Student ERP solutions to address the global gap in this space. Ian’s expertise in Higher Education, EdTech, Student Information Systems and project delivery has allowed him to assist several large Private and Public institutes to the next level in terms of efficiency and student delivery. |
